On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Kahu Palakiko Yagodich dedicated a special Hawaiian Blessing as we honored Maunalani’s Shower Tree that has stood as the centerpiece of our first floor entrance and parking lot since Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center first opened its doors in January 1950.
The Shower Tree has graced Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with its strength and mana for 76 years. It will be removed and its remnants will stay with us in other meaningful, lasting forms. After the Elevator building phase is completed, a new Hawaiian Koa tree will be planted as a symbol representing Maunalani’s resilience.
