Special Message from Governor David Y. Ige
In Recognition of Maunalani Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Veteran’s Day Celebration November 9, 2018
Our veterans, men and women who defended our freedoms and protected our country and their families, are Hawai‘i’s treasure. They are a treasure to be cared for, to be respected, and to be honored. On behalf of the people of Hawai‘i, I send a warm aloha to the veterans, families, and guests at the Maunalani Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Today, I am proud to be a part of the ‘ohana that is honoring our veterans here at Maunalani. This is a home with a strong sense of community and belonging where residents feel secure, comforted and valued. Maunalani is home to World War II Nisei veterans, some of whom received France’s Legion of Honor Medal, and 25 retired U.S. veterans. Today and everyday, let us honor and respect and thank our veterans.
To all who risked everything to defend freedom and liberty, mahalo for your dedication, courage and inspiration. We will never forget the role you played in America’s history of war and peace, and we are grateful and humbled by your sacrifice. To all the families and children, mahalo for your faith and love. I send my best wishes to all of you for continued good health and happiness.
With warmest regards,
DAVID Y. IGE
Governor, State of Hawai‘i
