Aloha,
We received confirmation that a staff member who worked last week on the third floor tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is currently isolating at home. At this time, there are no residents or staff members presenting any signs or symptoms.
We have consulted with our Medical Director, Dr. Patricia Blanchette, MD, notified the State Department of Health and we are following the CDC guidelines.
We are testing staff and residents on the unit. Preliminary results have returned negative and we will inform you of all results as soon as we know. We will be providing another test on Monday, September 27th. In the interim, residents and staff on the unit are under observation and will remain so until we have the results of the 2nd test.
Following our infection control practices, we will temporarily suspend regular family visits, except for outdoors compassionate care during this time. You are welcome to continue to use video calls and phone calls to stay in touch with your loved ones on the 3rd floor.
There is no change for our 2nd floor and Castle Wing residents. Outdoor visits are strongly encouraged while compassionate visits are considered for those needing additional accommodations.
Thank you for your understanding and support!
