The rehabilitation team consists of the physical therapists, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, occupational therapist assistant and the speech therapist. Together, we establish a treatment plan that best fits the needs of each individual patient.
Physical therapy focuses primarily on walking, bed mobility, transferring, balance, wound care and pain management. They incorporate activities to decrease falls, increase safety awareness and increase functional ability.
Occupational therapy concentrates on restoring or maintaining the patient’s activities of daily living. This includes such things as bathing, dressing, grooming, and household activities. They also work to ensure contracture management with the use of proper positioning and/or splinting devices.
Speech therapy provide services to increase communication skills and swallowing function. Special techniques and exercises are used to improve areas of verbal/written expression, memory/cognition, problem solving, deficits due to hearing loss, facial muscle weakness and swallowing dysfunction.
