Aloha Maunalani Residents, Families and Friends,
We want to inform you that the resident who tested positive on 8/26/20, has recovered. Since then we have another resident who tested positive yesterday. The resident is currently in our Observation Unit and is resting comfortably. We want to assure all of you that things are under control at Maunalani.
All our residents are being closely monitored. The planned weekly COVID-19 testing of staff and residents has started. Any resident with a positive test result is requested to move to our Observation Unit for an added level of care. The unit, with its own entrance and exit, is sealed off from the other care units. A dedicated team of professional nurses and staff, equipped with an extra level of PPEs, are available around the clock for the residents.
In addition to the constant professional oversight and guidance from our Medical Director Dr. Blanchette, we expect to be receiving additional support and resources from Mountain Pacific Quality Health Foundation (a CMS designated entity) for staff education, improvement activities and strategies in infection control.
Please continue to keep in touch with your loved ones via Facetime, Skype or a phone call. We continue to welcome families to pick up and drop off food and clothing for our residents.
We would like to acknowledge that we have a great, caring staff. They are exceptionally understanding and accepting our continuous reminders of their responsibilities and the sacrifices they must make outside of work in order to avoid carrying the virus to the residents. We are forever grateful and appreciate every single one who shows up for work dutifully every day for our residents.
Respectfully,
Sai Chantavy
Executive Director/CEO
