Dear Maunalani Residents, Families and Friends,
Despite our meticulous adherence to the recommendations from the DOH, CDC and CMS to keep the COVID out, we need to inform you that we received confirmation that one resident tested positive today.
We understand this may be unsettling and we want you to know that we will do everything to control the situation and keep everyone safe.
Currently, the resident in question is not exhibiting any respiratory symptoms and has been immediately placed in medical isolation under close observation. No other residents or staff have any symptoms but will all be tested and monitored.
As you know, staff members are not allowed to report to work at Maunalani when sick. We plan mass testing of everyone as soon as we are able to schedule with the lab.
We have started contact tracing and are in close contact with our Medical Director, Dr. Patricia Blanchette and the State DOH for their guidance.
The virus is currently so widespread in the community and it can be present in anyone with no obvious symptoms. Therefore, we will consider regular testing for everyone in our plan to further minimize the introduction of the virus into Maunalani. We will continue to provide you with updates as they become available.
Thank you for your understanding and words of encouragement during these uncertain times. We hope you will remain safe and healthy.
As always, please, feel free to contact us if you have any comments or questions.
